Choir! Choir! Choir!

Choir! Choir! Choir! is more than a performance — it’s a movement. Founded in 2011 by Toronto artists Daveed Goldman and Nobu Adilman (DaBu), this participatory singing project has transformed the way audiences experience live music, turning rooms full of strangers into impromptu choirs and ordinary nights into unforgettable memories.

What began as a drop-in singing night has grown into a global sensation, with Choir! Choir! Choir! performing everywhere from New York’s Carnegie Hall to Parliament Hill, and even alongside music legends like David Byrne, Patti Smith, and Tegan and Sara. The format is simple but magical: no auditions, no rehearsals — just lyrics on the screen, harmonies taught on the fly, and hundreds of voices coming together as one.

At the core of Choir! Choir! Choir! is a belief in the power of community and the joy of singing — not to impress, but to connect.

In 2019, Centre In The Square played host to one of Choir! Choir! Choir!’s most unforgettable tour stops. The venue, typically known for polished orchestral performances and theatrical productions, was transformed into a high-energy chorus hall. Instead of passive listeners, the crowd became the show — singing together in harmony, laughing between verses, and experiencing the cathartic release that only communal music-making can bring.

The performance in Kitchener perfectly captured what Choir! Choir! Choir! does best: bringing people together. For a city with a rich tradition of choral and community music, it was a natural fit — and a night that left everyone hoarse, happy, and humming on the way home.

Whether they’re leading a Bowie tribute, a Beatles singalong, or tackling everything from Whitney Houston to Radiohead, Choir! Choir! Choir! creates moments that are equal parts performance, therapy session, and joy-fueled party.

Beyond the music, Choir! Choir! Choir! is rooted in a sense of purpose. They regularly use their platform to raise funds and awareness for social causes, and they champion the idea that music is for everyone — not just trained vocalists or concert-goers, but everyday people who want to feel something real.

With over 80 million YouTube views, features in The New Yorker, CBC, and BBC World Service, and a growing list of collaborations and cultural moments, Choir! Choir! Choir! continues to prove that the most powerful instrument is the human voice — especially when it’s raised in unison.

For Kitchener-Waterloo, their visit wasn’t just a concert. It was a celebration of togetherness, and a reminder that sometimes, the best nights are the ones where you don’t just watch the music — you become it.
