The Blackwood Two

The Blackwood Two is a folk/roots duo originally from Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, consisting of Megan McCaffrey (fiddle, vocals) and Dan Belgue (acoustic guitar, banjo, vocals). Their music blends old-time, bluegrass, and acoustic folk influences, characterized by warm harmonies and a nostalgic, lo-fi aesthetic.Their 2012 album Lines Across This Land features contributions from local musicians, including Dave Soehner (dobro, vocals), Brad Levia (washboard, vocals), Dave Houde (percussion, producer), and Will Muir (engineer, percussion). The album was recorded at The Sound Distillery Recording Studio in Kitchener, Ontario.

Dave and I recorded this album mostly live off the floor with ribbon and condenser mics, very little post-processing.

While they were based in Kitchener-Waterloo during their early years, The Blackwood Two later relocated to Victoria, British Columbia. They continue to create music that evokes a bygone era, with sunny melodies and cosmic hints.

You can explore their music and learn more about them on their Bandcamp page, Facebook page, and YouTube channel.
