Daddy Long Legs
Daddy Long Legs was a blues band hailing from Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, active primarily in the early 2000s. The group was known for their raw, energetic sound that blended traditional blues with garage rock influences, earning them a dedicated following in Southern Ontario.
The core lineup included:
Mike "Shakey" Elliott – Guitar and vocals
Chris "Junior" Malleck – Harmonica
Steve Toms – Bass
Jeff Wagner – Drums
The band formed in 2001 and quickly gained recognition for their original compositions and electrifying live performances. They were finalists in the 2004 Toronto Blues Society New Talent Search, won the Maple Blues Award for Best New Artist in 2008, and received the Canadian Independent Music Award for Favourite Blues Band in 2009. That same year, they represented the Grand River Blues Society at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee.
Daddy Long Legs' music was characterized by its gritty, unpolished sound. Their fifth album, The Devil's in the Details, released in 2014 on Busted Flat Records, showcased their raw approach to modern blues.
In 2024, a live recording titled Farewell Show - 2014 was released on Bandcamp, capturing the band's final performance and serving as a testament to their dynamic stage presence.
